After exploring early childhood research for
Australia, I found that they have similar issues to the U.S. in regards to the
field of early childhood. Australia’s early
childhood organizations are working with the same mission as countries around the
world, to “ensure quality, social justice, and equity for the care of young
children. Research issues stem from
diversity to quality standards of early childhood programs, to the
importance
of play-based learning; which for Australia is mandatory under the National
Quality Standard. Australia has
recognized the importance of early childhood education. “Investment
in early childhood education and care (ECEC) programs is a cornerstone policy
of the Australian Government”. I found it intriguing that Australis offers universal access to early childhood education. They are providing children with access to early
childhood education programs for all children in the year before full-time
schooling. “While attendance is not compulsory, early childhood
education programmes are delivered in a range of settings including child care,
stand-alone preschools and school-based preschools, in order to meet the needs
of working families, and will be accessible to all Australian children,
regardless of their location”. This is shocking to me due to the fact
that as a country the U.S. is not doing that, not on a national level.

Denise,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! We need to take after Australia! There are so many countries out there that are far more advanced in helping working families, and children of all ages to succeed! I hope one day the United States will get there and I hope it is soon!
Hi
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the same web site and was pleased to see they view early childhood as an important part of their community. however, the U.S.A. needs to take model their practices after them and provide early care for all.
Denise,
ReplyDeleteTerrific post! I agree that Australia is far more advanced with their early childhood programs. We need to do as they are, helping families and children, of all ages. There are many countries that are doing far more than we are for children, and families, and we need to do as they are.
Hi Denise,
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA) and many of the same topics can be found on both. I sometimes find it frustrating that other countries do more for their children and families but I am more hopeful that they will be a role model for us to follow and use what is working.
Denise,
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to see such awesome efforts being implementing for young children. In the United States we should focus in more on the importance of quality services for all children and provide services such as these.
